Jonah thought that escaping would change what God had wanted for him to do. Inside the whale, he knew his disobedience had brought him to that point in his life.
sometimes we think we can get away with not following God, or not obeying God. We can even reason out that there is no God. but no amount of reasoning will erase the existence of God. You may not believe in hell, but it remains as hot as ever. You may not believe in God, but you will still face Him when you die. Your beliefs or your lifestyle does not make God's word less true. Rather, the Word of God judges you. No matter how hard you try to reason out your decisions, it doesn't change God's word. You can't choose what to obey. You must obey everything.
God doesn't change. His word doesn't change. He is holy. So don't change the word of God to suit your life. Let God change your life through His Word working in you. Obey God.
