Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I was reading Psalm 18, one of my favorite psalms, yesterday. In verse 2 David says, God is my Deliverer.
The Lord showed me that you can truly know God as a Deliverer when you have been delivered. You can truly know God as a fortress when you are under attack. You can truly know God as a shield when arrows from the evil one are aimed at you but they don't hit you.
When we are sick, we come to truly know the Lord as Healer.
When God gives us a spiritual battle to face alone like David did, then we come to truly know the Lord as the Lord of hosts, as the God of angel-armies. Sometimes the Lord sets us up to face things alone or as only a few people, that He may truly show us that "Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few." (1 Sam. 14:6)
Sometimes we complain when we have trials. Yet every trial is an opportunity to trust God and to know Him more, for who He is.
